Inside every Kavacha: chamber sizes

Every Kavacha opens to a private chamber. This page gives the size of each one, measured from its design file with the cap closed: how wide and long the space inside is, how wide the opening is, the volume of that space, and the size of paper that fits rolled. Use it to choose a piece for what you want to carry, a written prayer, a lock of hair, a little earth or a small amount of ashes.

How to read the numbers

  • They come from the design files, not a fill. Kavacha Designs | Sacred Armor™ measured each chamber in the CAD model with the cap seated. A real fill is somewhat less, because you leave room for the cap to close.
  • Volume is space, not weight. Ashes are a coarse powder and pack differently from piece to piece, so the volume is a guide, not a promise of how much will go in.
  • The opening matters as much as the volume. A narrow opening, about 4 to 5 mm on the slimmest designs, is easy for a rolled note or a few strands of hair and slower for powder.
  • Hollow caps. On the designs marked *, part of the measured space is inside the cap, which works as headspace rather than room to fill.
  • Nominal sizes. Weights and dimensions are nominal. Every piece is cast from its own single 3D print.

The Vertical Cross is left out: its design file is open at both ends, so its chamber could not be measured reliably. Write to us before choosing it for ashes or a written prayer.

The VRAT ring has a small chamber across the top of the band, about 15.1 × 5.2 × 5.8 mm inside (0.26 ml), under a hinged cap with no silicone seal. It takes a small folded note.

Gold editions

The 14K and 18K yellow gold editions are cast from the same designs, so the chamber as designed is the same. Every design except SOULROCKER is also made to order in gold, in 4 to 6 weeks.

How the chamber closes

Every Kavacha necklace closes with a twist-lock: the precisely fitted male and female parts align and twist together, and a silicone seal makes the fit snug. The end cap is held on the chain by its bail, so even when the amulet is open, the cap stays attached and cannot slip past the clasp. Water resistance has not been tested, so keep the chamber and what is inside it dry.

Choosing by what you will carry

  • A written prayer: see the paper column.
  • A lock of hair: a lock of hair, coiled or folded, fits every chamber. See a locket for a lock of hair.
  • A small amount of ashes: the larger chambers and wider openings at the end of the table are the easiest to fill. Please contact us before you fill a Kavacha with ashes. Keeping a loved one's ashes close goes through filling step by step, and necklaces for ashes shows the designs with the most room.
