14K and 18K Gold
Every piece in this collection is 14K or 18K yellow gold for the necklaces, and 14K yellow gold for the VRAT ring amulet. Every metal part, chain and clasp included, is karat gold; the chamber inside is hollow by design. Kavacha means armor in Sanskrit. Each Kavacha is a prayer amulet with a private chamber inside. The chamber can hold a written prayer, a lock of hair, a small amount of ashes or another small keepsake.
The 14K and 18K gold editions are made to order. Each piece takes 4 to 6 weeks to make. Each piece is cast from its own single 3D print, then stone-set where it has stones, finished and hallmarked with the Kavacha hallmark and a branded K tag. Each listing gives the pendant weight in 14K and 18K and the weight with chain and clasp; weights vary slightly from piece to piece.
Several gold designs are set with lab-grown diamonds, and each listing names its stones; Afghani Tribal Emerald, for example, is set with emeralds and green cubic zirconia. The designs draw on amulet traditions from Kerala, the Bedouin hirz, the taweez and the wedding silver of Northern Yemen. Each gold design is also available in sterling silver, listed separately. Every design is drawn by hand in pen and ink by Jayashri Triolo, who founded Kavacha Designs | Sacred Armor™ in 2018.
For a memorial piece, the chamber as designed is the same in 14K or 18K yellow gold as in sterling silver, and chamber sizes gives every design. The designs with the most room inside are together in necklaces for ashes, in sterling silver.
