Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a patina and may tarnish over time. This is normal. Many Kavachas are finished with darkened details in the recesses of the design; this is intentional and part of the piece. To restore its shine, gently wipe the exterior with a soft silver polishing cloth, keeping to the raised surfaces. For additional cleaning, use a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and a small amount of mild dish soap. Wipe clean and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Please do not use silver dips or polishing pastes, which remove the darkened finish.
14K & 18K Gold
Gold can collect natural oils, lotions and residue from everyday wear. Gently clean the exterior with a soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and a small amount of mild dish soap, then wipe with clean water and dry thoroughly. A soft jewelry polishing cloth can be used to restore its luster.
Stones
If your Kavacha is set with lab-grown diamonds or cubic zirconia, everyday oils and lotions can dull their sparkle. Clean around the stones with the same soapy cloth or an extra-soft brush, using light strokes, then dry thoroughly. We recommend having a jeweler check the settings once a year. If a stone ever feels loose, stop wearing the piece and contact us.
The Chamber
Open and fill your Kavacha at a table in a dry room, and make sure the piece, your hands and anything you place inside are completely dry. Please do not place liquids, oils, perfume or anything damp or fresh inside. Fill only enough that the cap closes easily. Before closing, brush away any dust from the opening and the silicone seal, then twist the cap closed by hand until the fit is snug; never use tools, and do not oil or grease the seal. Once ashes or another irreplaceable trace are inside, the piece is not meant to be opened and closed casually or repeatedly, although it can be reopened when necessary. Please contact us before filling it with ashes, or if the seal ever looks worn or the cap no longer closes snugly.
The VRAT ring’s cap opens on a small hinge and has no silicone seal. Open it gently with a fingertip, and take the ring off before washing your hands.
A Few Simple Precautions
Avoid bleach, chlorine, household cleaners and abrasive cleaning products, and do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Remove your Kavacha before swimming, bathing, hot tubs or saunas, or using strong chemicals. Put on perfume, lotion and sunscreen before your Kavacha, not after. Water resistance has not been tested, so please do not treat your Kavacha as watertight. Because each Kavacha contains an inner chamber, we recommend wiping rather than soaking your piece and making sure it is completely dry before opening or placing anything inside.
When not being worn, store your Kavacha in its pouch or a soft, dry place away from humidity and other jewelry that could scratch it.
With proper care, your Kavacha is designed to age beautifully, carrying its meaning and its story with it.
